ARB Hearing on Library Expansion
May 28 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
We have submitted all items requested by the Architectural Review Board (ARB) and will meet with them on Tuesday, May 28, at 5:30 pm at the Police Department in Lions Club Park (same place the town council meets). Matt Ray has reviewed the library plans and compared them to the new ordinance for the downtown district.
There were six items he found in our plans that do not meet the requirements of the new ordinance. We will ask the ARB to waive these and allow Matt Ray to issue a permit. Our main contention is that a public library building is not the same as a downtown storefront business and should not be required to comply with the same standards. We are hopeful they will be reasonable and we will work with the ARB so that the library project can get started.
If you can attend the meeting, please do and show your support for the library project. We ask that you be respectful of the ARB and Matt Ray as they are simply following the new ordinance. We appreciate your support and this will, hopefully, be the last hurdle as we look to begin this exciting new project!
